This blog is a space to conversate with my students, my ex-students, my fellow marketers and anybody interested  about Green, Marketing, Sustainability, Environmental and Social issues and where all of this is going. It’s a place to ask questions and find answers. It’s  a place to challenge and be challenged. It’ s a place to come up with great ideas and let the world know about them. It’s a place where we learn, teach and take action.

My carbon footprint 119.16 compared to country average of 246.41. I guess I’m doing better than average but I have a ways to go. It’s hard when you live an apartment and can’t make significant changes to the building.

  3. My carbon footprint is 20.55, compare to the US national average 7.5 tons per year, my score is beyond beyond horrible because: It is intolerable. Right before I took the test, I certainly know that my score will be so horrible because I commute to the valley (Chatsworth), where I work, from Manhattan Beach, CA everyday when I don’t travel overseas. I also travel to Asia average 8 times a year or more and I also travel locally for business trip or pleasure. Luckily, I just started to do this job a year ago.

I cannot deny the reality that I have to commute far everyday and travel overseas for work. However, I am fully aware that there are plenty alternatives for me to choose to offset my carbon footprint. I have been trying to change my lifestyle from a simple way of showering (no more than 6 minutes), saving electricity at home, to choosing my next car at the end of this year to replace my old car.

I am a true believer that being green is more than just consuming green products, it is a logical way of life with proven positive cost and benefit. Although, taking this green marketing class is not the sole way to understanding future promotion of sustainable lifestyle, it is a remarkable opportunity to start making my life greener and began to infuse the green idea into my work life and adopt it as a tool to run my business.

My Carbon Footprint is calculated at 5.1. Driving an older car definitely is driving it up (no pun intended).

  5. Brenda Gonzalez Says:

My result was 4.65, smaller than average. Probably because school and work are close to my house so I don’t have to drive much.

    1. Brenda Gonzalez Says:

nevermind. I did a mistake, no wonder. It is actually 5.6

The discussion on Nov. 16,09..the triple bottom line: people; planet & profit. Agreeing these are essential, I welcome feedback, concerning profit realization(if people/or planet were primary and un-advertized)in a business model, or why profit should be the primary objective. Complexities aside & barring some obvious industries, I’m longing for a new business mindset…..
